What to Expect

At Family Connections, we want to provide a safe and comfortable environment for you to enjoy your time with your children.

Our Mission

Our policies and procedures are designed for the safety and emotional well-being of every participant. It is the goal of our staff to ensure the safety of all parties involved in the supervised visit process. Family Connections' Policies and Procedures meet California Family Code Section 3200.5 as well as the California Rules of Court 5.20 requirements. In addition, our supervisors have been trained in the required subject matters totaling at least the minimum 24 hours required by Family Code section 3200.5 and California Rules of Court 5.20. Flexibility in visiting times is offered, including Saturdays and Sundays. Our on-site office is designed to promote positive parent/child interaction.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where do the visits take place?

Usually, visits take place at our supervised visitation center in Sacramento, which has been designed to accommodate positive parent/child interaction. We also offer therapeutic intervention as necessary.

  • How long do the visits last?

Visits usually last from 1-4 hours, but the court orders are followed.

  • What types of activities are provided for me and my kid(s)?

The visiting parent can bring activities to enjoy (arts & crafts, games, etc.) and various toys/games/cards are also available for your use.

  • Can we bring our own toys and activities?

Yes, and it is recommended that you put toys for the visits in a plastic crate that can be easily transported for each visit. We suggest that the parent and child decorate the crate with stickers and other fun things so that it is special and something that kids look forward to.

  • What is the check-in process like on my first visit?

The check-in process is easy and the supervisor will give you a tour of the office.

  • What should I bring to orientation?

Copies of (if available); current court orders, restraining orders, current mediation report, and driver's license.
